What this site is

This site was built to answer a specific problem: since 1 July 2023, anyone seeking cosmetic surgery in Australia needs a GP referral before their first consultation with the operating doctor. Most people discover this rule at the exact moment they're ready to book surgery — and don't know where to start.

We explain the rule, compare every legitimate path to getting a referral, and help patients understand the protections the 2023 reforms put in place.

What this site is not

We are not a medical service. We do not provide referrals. We do not recommend specific practitioners or surgeons. We do not give medical advice. We are a consumer information resource.

How we verify information

Prices and service details in our comparison table are checked against provider websites and updated periodically. Each page shows the date it was last verified.

We verify against publicly available information. We do not conduct mystery shops or independent testing of services. The cosmetic surgery referral market is relatively small — if you notice an error, contact us and we will investigate promptly.

How we make money (affiliate disclosure)

Currently, links to provider websites are plain reference links. We do not receive a fee from any provider listed on this site.

Content on this site is written with reference to AHPRA's published guidelines, Medical Board of Australia standards, and provider websites. We aim to present factual, balanced information without endorsing or discouraging specific procedures or providers.

We do not publish testimonials, star ratings, or clinical quality reviews of practitioners or services. This is consistent with AHPRA's advertising guidelines (Section 133, National Law) which restrict testimonials and claims about clinical outcomes in health service advertising.
